Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring accuracy and patient comfort. Conduct patient assessments by measuring vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health. Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside support, including four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow. Maintain detailed and accurate medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, to ensure a safe environment for all. Support pediatric dentistry cases by applying specialized knowledge in pediatrics and working effectively with young patients. Review documentation for accuracy, assist with medical coding when necessary, and ensure compliance with healthcare infection control standards. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a general or pediatric dentistry setting is preferred. Familiarity with EHR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable. Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy related to oral health. Knowledge of dental equipment operation, dental x-ray procedures, and infection control practices. Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with team members. Ability to perform patient care assessments confidently while maintaining HIPAA compliance standards. Prior experience in dental assisting or chairside assisting is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided if needed.
