Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to ensure optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve workflow efficiency. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health. Maintain accurate and detailed medical and dental records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Adhere strictly to infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control standards, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Skills Proficiency in dental software systems like Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation and scheduling management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding to accurately document patient information. Experience with dental equipment operation, dental x-ray procedures, and maintaining sterilization standards. Excellent patient communication skills with the ability to educate diverse patient populations about dental care. Ability to perform patient care tasks such as vital signs measurement, patient assessment, and chairside assisting efficiently. Familiarity with healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance management and infection control practices. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in general dentistry settings with pediatric dentistry experience considered a plus.
