In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by performing dental cleanings, assessments, and education while supporting the overall efficiency of our dental practice. Your expertise will help promote optimal oral health and ensure a positive experience for every patient. Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to improve their dental health outcomes. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and safeguarding sensitive medical information. Support infection control standards through aseptic techniques, sterilization of equipment, and adherence to healthcare infection prevention guidelines. Monitor and record vital signs, medical imaging results, and other relevant data as part of comprehensive patient care. Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless workflow in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings. Requirements Laser certificate is required Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental procedures. Proven experience working in a dental office or clinic environment, preferably with pediatric dentistry exposure. Proficiency with Dentrix Ascend for managing electronic health records (EHR). Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical coding, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Familiarity with dental equipment including X-ray machines, ultrasonic scalers, and sterilization tools. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on dental care practices. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining high standards of infection prevention and aseptic technique. Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance management and infection control protocols. Strong organizational skills for documentation review, medical records management, and maintaining accurate treatment notes.
