Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status. Capture high-quality dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow and patient comfort. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including documentation review, charting, and updating electronic health records (EHR). Follow infection prevention protocols, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA compliance standards to safeguard patient confidentiality and ensure a sterile environment. Requirements Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings with proficiency in dental terminology and procedures. Strong knowledge of dental equipment, X-ray technology, and medical imaging techniques. Familiarity with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and billing purposes. Excellent communication skills for client education, team collaboration, and patient care. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining a high level of patient care. Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and medical coding. Commitment to HIPAA compliance management and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
