Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using digital imaging equipment while ensuring safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term health. Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry, including four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency. Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records (EHR) using systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality. Support infection prevention measures by adhering to strict sterilization protocols and aseptic techniques to safeguard patient and staff health. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic setting with familiarity in both general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review, scheduling, and record management. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare infection control standards. Ability to perform dental x-rays accurately while maintaining patient comfort and safety. Excellent communication skills for client education, team collaboration, and patient care coordination. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical coding practices, and EMR/EHR systems to ensure compliant documentation. Experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus, along with expertise in infection prevention management and aseptic techniques necessary for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
