Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts to ensure safe and effective treatment. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling medical records responsibly. Requirements Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices. Proficiency with dental terminology, medical terminology, and documentation review processes. Skilled in infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and maintaining a sterile environment. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient recordkeeping. Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dental procedures and patient assessment protocols. Strong understanding of dental assisting practices, chairside assisting, and medical coding standards.
