Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring high standards of oral hygiene care. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety in accordance with HIPAA and infection prevention guidelines. Educate patients on proper dental care practices, emphasizing preventive strategies tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency and patient comfort. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using OpenDental, documenting all procedures, assessments, and patient interactions thoroughly. Follow strict infection control protocols, including aseptic technique and sterilization of dental equipment, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a general dentistry setting, with familiarity in managing diverse patient populations. Hands-on knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation and billing processes. Experience with OpenDetal is not necessary. Our office will offer training. Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices aligned with HIPAA compliance standards. Ability to perform dental x-rays accurately while maintaining patient safety protocols. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on dental care routines.
