Responsibilities Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment, ensuring accuracy and patient safety. Assess patients' medical history, vital signs, and overall oral health status to inform treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster lifelong healthy habits. Assist the dentist during various procedures with chairside assisting, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort. Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records (EHR/EMR), including documentation review and medical coding. Follow infection prevention protocols, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient confidentiality and ensure a sterile environment. Operate dental equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to infection control guidelines to prevent cross-contamination. Communicate clearly with patients of all ages, including pediatric dentistry cases, providing compassionate care tailored to pediatric patients' needs. Support the dental team by managing appointment schedules, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring the clinic's smooth daily operation. Experience Prior experience working in a dental office or clinic setting is required; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential. Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience working with pediatric patients is a strong advantage. Demonstrated ability in dental assisting, including chairside assisting and patient care documentation. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and medical records management. Experience with digital X-ray technology and medical imaging techniques used in dentistry.
