Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by evaluating oral health status and recording medical histories accurately in electronic health records (EHR). Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while ensuring proper infection prevention measures and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Assist with chairside procedures by preparing dental equipment, managing supplies, and supporting dentists during treatments such as pediatric dentistry procedures. Monitor vital signs and assess medical conditions that may influence dental treatment plans, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality. Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Open Dental for documentation review, and accurate record-keeping. Uphold strict infection prevention management protocols, including sterilization of instruments and maintaining a sterile environment in accordance with healthcare infection control standards. Requirements Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist from an accredited program with current registration to practice in the state or region. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical imaging techniques relevant to dental care. Strong understanding of dental equipment operation, X-ray safety protocols, and infection control practices. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about dental care and hygiene practices.
