Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque, tartar, and stains. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Conduct patient assessments by evaluating vital signs, medical history, and oral health status to inform treatment planning. Provide thorough patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including documentation review, treatment notes, and electronic health records (EHR) management using systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and healthcare infection control standards, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Collaborate with dentists and other team members to deliver seamless general dentistry services tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality at all times during data handling and communication. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures. Proven experience working in a dental office or clinic setting, with familiarity in dental assisting and chairside support. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical records documentation review. Expertise in infection prevention management, including sterilization processes and aseptic techniques aligned with healthcare standards. Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety protocols. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on dental care practices. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles is a plus but not mandatory; enthusiasm for working with diverse age groups is essential.
