Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Conduct initial patient assessments by measuring vital signs, reviewing medical history, and evaluating oral health status. Educate patients on proper dental care techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary advice tailored to individual needs. Assist dentists during procedures through chairside assisting, managing dental instruments, and maintaining a sterile environment with infection prevention protocols. Review and document medical records, treatment plans, and patient interactions accurately within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information and practicing infection control standards aligned with healthcare guidelines. Qualifications Valid Florida state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in using dental software, Eaglesoft is preferred Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health care. Strong understanding of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control practices. Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards. Excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration; experience working with EMR/EHR systems is highly desirable.
