Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring accuracy and patient safety. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current health status. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve workflow efficiency. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control standards, to ensure patient safety. Manage patient care documentation, review medical coding, and ensure HIPAA compliance for confidentiality. Monitor and operate dental equipment safely while adhering to healthcare infection prevention standards. Support pediatric dentistry procedures when working with young patients, creating a positive experience for children. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental radiography. Proven experience in general dentistry or dental clinic environments with familiarity in dental terminology and equipment. Proficiency in EHR/EHR management systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and infection control practices within a dental setting. Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient assessment confidently. Excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality rigorously. Experience with pediatric dentistry is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for working with diverse patient populations is essential.
