Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and oral health evaluations. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental x-ray equipment, ensuring proper technique and patient safety. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Assist with chairside procedures such as dental restorations, sealants, and other general dentistry treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth clinic operations, including preparing dental equipment and assisting with medical imaging as needed. Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, assess their needs, and provide compassionate care tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials. Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft, OpenDental or Dentrix for documentation review and electronic health records management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, anatomy, and medical coding relevant to dental care. Expertise in infection prevention management, including sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques aligned with healthcare standards. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about dental care practices. Familiarity with dental equipment operation, medical imaging techniques, and X-ray safety protocols. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment practicing four-handed dentistry with attention to detail. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance management and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
