Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our professional dental team. Responsibilities Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while ensuring radiation safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive dental care strategies. Assist with chairside procedures, including preparing instruments and maintaining sterile environments using aseptic techniques. Manage electronic health records (EHR) accurately, documenting treatment plans, medical records, and patient interactions. Collaborate with dentists and other team members to ensure comprehensive patient care and treatment continuity. Maintain infection prevention standards by adhering to healthcare infection control protocols and HIPAA compliance regulations. Operate dental equipment efficiently, including ultrasonic scalers, dental x-ray machines, and other diagnostic tools. Support pediatric dentistry procedures when working with younger patients in a compassionate manner. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings, with familiarity in pediatric dental care preferred. Proficiency in using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care. Experience with infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards. Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while ensuring patient safety. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on oral health practices. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems for documentation review and medical records management. Familiarity with medical coding related to dental procedures is advantageous. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
