Responsibilities Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis. Assess patient vital signs and medical history to ensure safe and effective treatment. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Assist dentists during procedures with chairside support, including handing instruments and managing dental equipment. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures, to ensure patient safety. Review documentation for accuracy, update medical coding, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality. Monitor and operate dental equipment safely while adhering to healthcare infection prevention standards. Support pediatric dentistry cases by engaging with young patients in a friendly manner and providing age-appropriate education. Skills Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for managing electronic health records (EHR). Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures. Experience with pediatric dentistry practices and working with children in a clinical setting. Skilled in chairside assisting, including handling dental instruments and managing patient comfort during procedures. Ability to perform dental x-rays accurately while maintaining radiation safety standards. Excellent patient communication skills to explain procedures clearly and foster trust. Understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding for billing purposes. Ability to assess patient needs effectively through patient care techniques and documentation review.
