A Dental Hygienist performs routine dental care, including cleaning teeth and examining patients for signs of oral diseases, and educates patients about good oral health practices. Assists dentists in more complex dental procedures. Works in dental offices under the supervision of dentists and other dental health specialists.

None Job Summary Teach assigned classes, within the Dental Hygiene Program in the Dental Hygiene Clinic. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional related duties may be assigned. 1. Plan course content and assign appropriate course work. 2. Select appropriate texts and teaching materials. 3. Meet classes at assigned times. 4. Instruct students in the proper use of lab equipment where appropriate. 5. See that equipment and/or labs are properly maintained where appropriate. 6. Participate in assessment of student learning. 7. Maintain student records, evaluate student progress, and assign grades. 8. Maintain office hours convenient for students. 9. Prepare course/class reports as required. 10. Adhere to Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), and any and policies or laws that govern higher education at Rock Valley College. 11. Attend required meetings (faculty, division, in-service training, etc.). 12. Assist in placement of graduates when appropriate. Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene or Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene (if teaching is limited to a clinical and dental science laboratory course) 2. Illinois Registered Dental Hygiene (RDH) 3. Five years of current clinical experience in a Dental Clinic as an RDH 4. Flexibility in work schedule. 5. Interest in serving a diverse student population Preferred Qualifications 1. Knowledge in educational methodologies 2. Experience teaching in a Dental Hygiene program 3. Experience with Dentrix patient software 4. Experience with digital x-rays Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a classroom, office, clinic, and lab setting.
