Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) accurately, ensuring high-quality imaging for diagnosis. Assess patient vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to monitor overall health status. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to empower them in maintaining their dental health. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality. Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Requirements Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings with a focus on patient care. Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and EHR management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dental hygiene practices. Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards. Excellent communication skills for client interaction, patient education, and team collaboration. Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including HIPAA compliance management.
