Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and dental examinations to identify oral health issues. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while adhering to radiation safety protocols. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their individual needs. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting all patient interactions thoroughly. Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Review medical records for relevant health information and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality. Support the dental team with chairside assisting, including preparing materials, managing dental supplies, and operating dental equipment safely. Ensure compliance with all healthcare infection control standards and manage documentation review for quality assurance. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials. Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings preferred. Proficiency in using EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices. Skilled in dental x-ray procedures with certification in radiography if required by state law. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about their oral health. Demonstrated understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and healthcare safety standards. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
