Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent patient care abilities, and a thorough understanding of dental procedures and terminology. This role offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on providing exceptional oral health services to patients of all ages. Experience with EMR systems, infection control protocols, and medical records management is essential. The Dental Hygienist will play a vital role in patient assessment, education, and treatment support while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining the highest standards of infection control. Duties Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and calculus buildup Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates Assist with patient assessment by reviewing medical histories and documenting dental conditions Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care Prepare patients for examinations by the dentist, including medical imaging and intraoral photography Support chairside assisting during various dental procedures using aseptic techniques Manage medical records accurately within EMR systems, ensuring documentation review and proper coding Maintain infection control standards in accordance with OSHA guidelines and CDC recommendations Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth clinic operations and excellent patient care Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice Valid certification to administer local anesthetic Experience with dental office softwares (we use SoftDent) Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures Proficiency in medical coding, documentation review, and medical records management Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures Ability to perform four-handed dentistry efficiently in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration Experience working with EMR systems and medical imaging equipment preferred Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times This position offers an engaging work environment where your skills will directly impact patients' health outcomes.
