Job Description
The Orange County Health Department has an opening for a Full-time Dental Hygienist. This is a 40 hour a week position. An employee of this classification is responsible for providing clinical oral hygiene care and preventive services, and develops and conducts dental health education programs. This distinct classification requires a license to practice as a dental hygienist. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Dentist with considerable leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work, and in making decisions regarding needs and requests. Supervision or leading others may be a responsibility of this class depending on the assignment. Does related work as required. QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from a regionally accredited or registered college or university with an Associate's degree in dental hygiene; AND Possession of a license to practice as a dental hygienist in North Carolina. Provisional licensure will be considered. Bachelor's degree in dental hygiene preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Possession of or ability to obtain CPR certification within six (6) months of employment. All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of an SBI background check and pre-employment drug testing. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.
