Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe treatment planning. Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, medical records, and dental terminology in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix. Adhere strictly to infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and safety. Qualifications Valid licensure as a Dental Hygienist in accordance with state requirements. Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical terminology. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care and communication skills.
