After 38 years of practicing in the same office , our longtime hygienist has retired, and we are looking for the right person to continue caring for our patients and become an important part of our team. This is a full-time position, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM . We are looking for a hygienist who is clinically strong, warm, dependable, open to feedback and training, and interested in continuing to grow professionally. We value quality over volume . Our hygienists are expected to provide thorough care, educate patients, communicate effectively with the doctor, and help create a positive patient experience. Duties Perform comprehensive dental hygiene services, including prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, scaling and root planing, and preventive care. Assess periodontal health and communicate clinical findings and concerns to the doctor. Review and update medical and dental histories and obtain vital signs when indicated. Take high-quality diagnostic radiographs while following appropriate radiation safety protocols. Perform oral cancer screenings and identify changes that may require further evaluation. Educate patients on periodontal health, oral hygiene, preventive care, and recommended treatment. Provide individualized home-care recommendations based on each patient's needs. Maintain complete, accurate, and timely clinical documentation. Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection-control, sterilization, and aseptic protocols. Work collaboratively with the dentist, assistants, and administrative team to provide a seamless patient experience. Help maintain an organized and efficient hygiene schedule while never compromising the quality of patient care. Participate in training, continuing education, and team development as the practice continues to grow. Requirements Current and valid New Jersey Dental Hygienist license . Current CPR/BLS certification. Local anesthesia certification preferred. Strong understanding of periodontal disease, periodontal therapy, preventive dentistry, and patient education. Ability to take diagnostic-quality dental radiographs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Professional, dependable, organized, and punctual. Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively as part of a small dental team. Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care. Open to coaching, training, feedback, and learning new techniques and systems. Desire to continue developing clinically and professionally. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and following HIPAA, OSHA, and infection-control requirements. Experience is valued, but we are also willing to invest in and train the right person . You do not need to know everything on day one. We are looking for someone with a strong clinical foundation, a positive attitude, good judgment, and a genuine desire to learn and grow.
