Duties Perform professional dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe and effective treatment plans. Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Operate dental imaging equipment to capture high-quality radiographs while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health. Document all procedures accurately in electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support the dental team with chairside assisting during general dentistry procedures, including medical coding and documentation review for billing accuracy. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in dental assisting and infection control protocols. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and pediatric dentistry principles. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly. Ability to perform vital signs measurement, medical imaging procedures, and maintain accurate medical records. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for safeguarding patient information.
