Pediatric Dental Hygienist — Part-Time (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) Chompers Pediatric Dentistry is seeking an experienced, compassionate dental hygienist who genuinely enjoys working with children and young adults. We are looking for someone who can help children feel safe and comfortable while providing excellent, efficient clinical care. The ideal candidate has clinical experience in a pediatric dental setting, understands age-appropriate behavior guidance, and can confidently work with children with varying levels of cooperation and dental anxiety. Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis for patients ages 1-21 Create a positive, reassuring experience for children and their families Use age-appropriate behavior guidance to help patients cooperate with care Educate patients and parents about oral hygiene, diet, cavity prevention, and oral habits Review and update medical and dental histories Maintain accurate, thorough clinical notes Update the dental chart and document relevant clinical findings Present each patient clearly and efficiently to the dentist Recognize and communicate areas of concern to the dentist Maintain an efficient schedule without making patients or families feel rushed Follow infection-control and sterilization protocols Collaborate with the dentist, dental assistants, and front-office team to keep the day running smoothly A dental assistant will be available to take the hygienist's X-rays, allowing the hygienist to focus on patient care, education, clinical notes, and maintaining an efficient schedule. Qualifications Current New York State dental hygiene license Clinical dental hygiene experience in a pediatric dental setting strongly preferred Comfortable treating children from infancy through young adulthood Skilled in pediatric behavior guidance and managing dental anxiety Patient, warm, engaging, and confident with children Strong communication and parent-education skills Reliable, organized, efficient, and attentive to detail Able to write complete and accurate clinical notes Team-oriented and willing to assist with the overall flow of the office Experience working with children with special healthcare needs is a plus Spanish fluency is a plus About Our Practice Chompers Pediatric Dentistry is a welcoming, child-centered practice in Washington Heights.
