Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup Conduct initial patient assessments by reviewing medical history and vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring proper safety protocols are followed Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside support, including preparation of instruments and materials in a four-handed dentistry setup Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times Adhere to infection prevention protocols by practicing aseptic techniques, sterilizing equipment, and managing infection control procedures in accordance with healthcare standards Monitor patient comfort throughout treatments, addressing concerns promptly and effectively to enhance overall patient experience Support the dental team with administrative tasks related to documentation review, medical coding, and appointment scheduling as needed Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments; experience with pediatric patients is a plus Proficiency with dental software platforms such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing electronic health records (EHR) and documentation review Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and dental equipment operation Skilled in patient care techniques including patient assessment, dental care education, and chairside assisting Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including aseptic technique and HIPAA compliance management Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, fostering trust and understanding Knowledge of medical imaging procedures and dental x-ray safety protocols Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate medical records and documentation review Join our team to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives through exceptional dental care!
