DEFINITION

The role of a Dental Hygienist is a key part of dental care and maintenance. Working as part of a dental team, Dental Hygienists are responsible for performing an array of clinical duties that improve the health of their patients. This includes providing preventive and therapeutic oral health care, with a focus on patient education, screenings, and cleanings.

EDUCATION

A dental hygienist must have an Associateʼs Degree in Dental Hygiene although a Bachelorʼs Degree is preferred.

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Valid Dental Hygienist License with the State of Oklahoma Completion of a course of study in dental hygiene accredited by the American Dental Association as evidenced by a degree or certification Current CPR Certification Radiology Certification
