Working with children and their families requires a special person who understands the importance of creating a fun and caring environment for educating, advocating and providing quality and compassionate care. We are looking for a Dental Hygienist to help educate and treat patients and promote good oral health practices. As a Dental Hygienist, you are an expert in the field of caries and disease prevention and thus, you should be able to build trust and cooperation with patients of all ages and with patients who have special health care needs. We are looking for a professional, positive, friendly, service oriented, team player to join our exceptional team. Please note, we are hiring to fill vacancies, not new positions, and therefor you are not expected to build a patient schedule. Our goal is to have hygienists performing hygiene (not EFDAs) while managing a dedicated pre-scheduled 50 minute per appointment hygiene column -- no operative, no local anesthesia. Because we serve children and families, our expectations are high. Responsibilities Welcome patients and families to ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible Obtain and document comprehensive and relevant medical/dental histories Obtain diagnostic intra-oral radiographs (Occlusals, PAs, Panos) Conduct initial screenings and check oral health history Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontitis Clean and help protect patients' teeth (hand scaling, ultrasonic scaling, child/adult prophy) Educate patients of all ages on proper oral care -- guided demonstrations are extremely important with our population when teaching good brushing and flossing techniques Maintain documentation and charts on each patient and participate in treatment planning discussions with patient and families -- Dentrix experienced preferred Sterilize dental instruments properly Monitor supplies Skills/Requirements Ability to help and "serve" patients, families and your team Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g.
