Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment, ensuring accurate positioning and safety. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, including four-handed dentistry techniques. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality. Follow infection prevention management protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, to uphold the highest standards of patient safety. Skills Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of dental anatomy to communicate effectively with patients and team members. Experience with dental software platforms such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and electronic health record management. Strong knowledge of infection control procedures, healthcare infection prevention standards, and HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient assessment with precision. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques for general dentistry procedures, including the use of dental equipment like x-ray machines. Excellent client communication skills to educate patients clearly about their dental care needs and treatment plans.
