Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for patient care and oral health education, with comprehensive knowledge of dental procedures, infection control, and patient assessment. As a key member of our practice, the Registered Dental Hygienist will deliver high-quality preventive dental services, support clinical operations, and foster a comfortable environment for patients of all ages. This paid position offers an opportunity to contribute to improving oral health outcomes while working within a collaborative healthcare setting. Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct oral health assessments, including evaluating periodontal status and recording medical and dental histories. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using digital imaging technology while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Provide patient education on proper oral hygiene practices, dietary advice, and preventive care strategies. Assist the dentist during examinations, procedures, and treatments through chairside assisting with instruments and materials. Maintain accurate medical records and document treatment notes in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention protocols, sterilization procedures, and HIPAA compliance to protect patient confidentiality. Monitor vital signs when necessary and assess overall patient health to identify any concerns requiring further medical attention. Support the maintenance of dental equipment and supplies, ensuring a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment. Engage in ongoing professional development related to general dentistry, medical terminology, and healthcare infection control. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in dental hygiene within a clinical or dental office setting Proficiency in using dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Opendent for documentation review and electronic health records management. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical coding, and medical imaging techniques. Strong understanding of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively across diverse age groups. Familiarity with chairside assisting techniques, dental equipment operation, and X-ray safety protocols. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and patient care quality.
