Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health. Take dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring accuracy while adhering to infection prevention protocols. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using Eaglesoft, documenting all patient interactions thoroughly. Follow strict infection control procedures, including aseptic technique and sterilization of dental equipment, in compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations. Monitor patient comfort throughout treatments, providing compassionate care. Support patient care by reviewing medical records, updating documentation, and ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times. Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless clinic operations, including maintaining dental equipment and assisting with administrative tasks as needed. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices. Proficiency in Eaglesoft for electronic health records management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health. Demonstrated expertise in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards. Excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration; compassionate approach especially when working with pediatric patients. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations; detail-oriented with strong documentation review skills. Knowledge of medical coding related to dental procedures is a plus but not required.
