Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Certified Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care, excellent clinical skills, and a comprehensive understanding of dental procedures and hygiene practices. As a key member of our dental practice, you will be responsible for providing preventive oral health services, educating patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, and supporting overall patient well-being. Your expertise in pediatric dentistry, infection control, and dental documentation will contribute significantly to delivering exceptional dental care in a professional environment committed to excellence. Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations for optimal oral health. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and office standards. Support general dentistry procedures by preparing treatment areas, sterilizing instruments, and managing infection control protocols. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure seamless patient care delivery, including documentation review and medical coding as needed. Monitor vital signs during appointments to ensure patient safety throughout treatment sessions. Stay current with advancements in dental terminology, EMR systems (Electronic Medical Records), and infection prevention practices to uphold high standards of care. Requirements Valid certification as a Dental Hygienist from an accredited program with active licensure in the practicing state or region. Proven experience in dental office settings, including familiarity with dental clinic operations and EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Strong knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control procedures relevant to pediatric dentistry and general dentistry. Proficiency in chairside assisting techniques combined with expertise in pediatric dentistry when applicable. Ability to perform medical imaging procedures accurately while maintaining aseptic technique standards. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach tailored to diverse patient populations, including pediatrics. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records confidentiality and documentation review processes. Experience with medical coding related to dental procedures is preferred but not mandatory. Strong organizational skills coupled with attention to detail for maintaining accurate documentation and managing multiple tasks efficiently.
