The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of dental hygiene practices within a clinical setting. As a Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive oral health services, educating patients on dental care, and supporting the overall efficiency of the practice. Your expertise in dental procedures, patient assessment, and infection control will contribute significantly to delivering exceptional dental care. Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to maintain optimal oral health for patients. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using appropriate dental imaging techniques while ensuring patient safety. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Assist dentists during procedures with chairside assisting, managing dental equipment, and ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained. Adhere to infection prevention protocols and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality and safety standards. Monitor and maintain dental equipment, ensuring proper functioning and sterilization in accordance with infection control guidelines. Support the practice's commitment to healthcare infection prevention and control by following established protocols. Communicate effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatric dentistry cases, fostering a welcoming environment for pediatric patients. Experience Valid Texas Dental Hygienist license with current registration in good standing. Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist within a general or pediatric dentistry setting. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and management. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding related to dental care. Experience performing dental x-rays (X-ray) and utilizing dental imaging equipment safely and accurately. Strong understanding of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations while demonstrating professionalism and empathy. Prior experience in maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations is essential.
