This position is in the Dental Clinic of the Bad River Health and Wellness Center in Odanah, WI. The purpose of this position is to perform preventative dental procedures and advanced prophylactic procedures on patients of all ages. The dental hygienist will also participate in outreach activities within the clinic, community, and schools to provide education and improve access to dental services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Basic Requirements:
Under the general supervision of staff dentists, administers oral prophylactic and hygiene treatment to patients presenting a variety of medical and dental conditions. Maintains current knowledge on best practices in the dental field and new technology. Records medical and dental histories, reviews patient's dietary habits and provides patient education, administers caries prevention agents, desensitization of root surfaces, and scaling and root planing. Takes part in chart audits to ensure continual quality improvement and conformity to policy and procedures. Able to utilize an Electronic Dental Record for patient care documentation and procedure coding. Performs additional duties assigned by the Dental Director.
Advanced requirements:
Administer local anesthetic and Nitrous Oxide under the direct supervision of a dentist Place dental sealants, take and pour impressions for study casts, remove sutures, and place sedative restorations under the direct supervision of a dentist. Function as a dental assistant when necessary during staffing shortages or increased workload. Oral Health Program Development and Oral Health Promotion Plans, coordinates, conducts, and evaluates preventive oral health programs and visual displays for various patient groups. The hygienist carries out all work related to the prevention program under own initiative in accordance with accepted dental hygiene practices. Some outreach work may involve evening events Attendance at clinic and dental staff meetings for continuous program improvement. Develops procedural instructions to be used by members of the dental team and the medical clinic.

From $40.00 per hour
