General Purpose The Dental Sterilization Technician (DST), under the supervision of the Dental Supervisor, is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, sterilizing, organizing, and preparing dental instruments and treatment rooms for patient care. Key Responsibilities Greet, seat, and dismiss patients. Decontaminate, sterilize, assemble, wrap, and prepare dental instruments and trays. Follow Standard Precautions, OSHA requirements, and Bloodborne/Airborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plans. Monitor sterilization equipment, biological and chemical solutions, and maintain accurate sterilization and spore-testing logs. Inspect instruments and sterilization equipment and report concerns to the RDA Clinic Lead. Set up and break down dental treatment rooms and ensure instruments and supplies are available for providers. Maintain clean, organized sterilization, treatment, and equipment storage areas. Restock, label, and maintain inventory of dental instruments, supplies, and equipment. Use the tracking system to monitor instruments through the sterilization process. Assist with environmental maintenance and inventory control. Participate in CQI activities, staff meetings, and required in-service training. Maintain professional and effective working relationships with patients, staff, providers, and vendors. Flexibility to work at other Ampla Health locations as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Dental Practice Act/Law and Ethics course required. 8-hour OSHA/Infection Control certification required. Current CPR certification required. Knowledge of dental processes and procedures preferred, but not required. Computer proficiency and ability to use dental treatment systems. Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to identify problems, set priorities, follow directions, and assist with problem resolution. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Reliable, punctual, and professional. Physical Requirements Ability to perform the physical duties required in a dental clinical and sterilization environment, including standing, bending, reaching, and handling instruments and equipment. Ability to safely perform decontamination and sterilization duties. May be exposed to bloodborne and airborne pathogens and infectious materials.
