Duties Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, surgical supplies, and sterilized equipment in accordance with infection prevention management protocols. Assist oral surgeons during procedures such as extractions, implant placements, biopsies, and other oral surgeries by handing instruments and maintaining a clear operative field. Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records, and ensuring accurate documentation in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans while ensuring proper radiation safety measures are followed according to HIPAA guidelines. Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort before, during, and after procedures to ensure optimal care. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and records with precision. Ensure all dental sterilization procedures are followed rigorously to uphold infection control standards and aseptic technique. Support the dental team with chairside assisting during general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry procedures as needed. Requirements Proven experience in dental assisting within a clinical setting, particularly in oral surgery or related specialties such as prosthodontics or endodontics. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment, and medical imaging techniques including X-ray and 3D scanner technology. Proficiency with patient management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and record keeping. Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control practices including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures. Ability to accurately measure vital signs and interpret medical documentation while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist or patient care coordinator is a plus; ability to educate patients about procedures is essential. Certification in dental assisting preferred; additional training in oral surgery or pediatric dentistry is advantageous. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, and general dentistry practices is required to ensure compliance and quality care.
