You will assist the oral surgeon during surgeries, manage patient flow, and uphold the highest standards of infection control and clinical confidentiality. Your expertise will help create a smooth, efficient experience for patients undergoing complex oral surgical treatments. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, surgical supplies, and sterilized equipment in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management protocols. Assist the oral surgeon during procedures by handling dental instruments, suctioning, and maintaining a clear operative field using four-handed dentistry techniques. Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans, ensuring accurate medical imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix while adhering to HIPAA regulations to maintain clinical confidentiality policies. Monitor vital signs and patient comfort levels before, during, and after procedures to ensure optimal patient care. Educate patients on post-operative care instructions, including infection control practices and oral hygiene maintenance. Maintain dental equipment, sterilize instruments following dental sterilization procedures, and ensure clinical areas are organized and sanitized daily. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on oral surgery or general dentistry; experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and dental equipment used in oral surgery settings. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and dental instrument processing. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with patient management software is preferred. Ability to operate dental x-ray machines and 3D scanners safely while adhering to radiation safety protocols. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, team members, and healthcare professionals. Knowledge of medical documentation standards and medical records management in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) is highly desirable; additional certifications in endodontics or prosthodontics are advantageous.
