Dental License CPR DEA License Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Dentist provides comprehensive oral health services to patients of all ages in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting. This role supports EXCELth' s mission to improve access to quality, affordable dental care in underserved communities. The Dentist works collaboratively with the dental team to promote oral health education, prevention, and treatment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform routine and complex dental procedures including exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions, crowns, and dentures. Diagnose and develop treatment plans for patients in accordance with accepted dental practices. Educate patients on oral hygiene and preventive care. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). Ensure compliance with OSHA, CDC, and state dental board regulations. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and peer reviews. Collaborate with other healthcare providers to support integrated care. Supervise and mentor dental Residents, assistants and hygienists as needed. Participation in the Teledentistry and Dental Mobile Unit programs as needed.
Qualifications:
DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school. Current Louisiana dental license in good standing. DEA registration and CPR certification. Experience working in community health or FQHC preferred. Commitment to serving diverse and underserved populations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Working Conditions:
Clinical setting with standard dental equipment. May require occasional evening or weekend hours. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases. About EXCELth

EXCELth, Incorporated is a private, non-profit organization established in 1991, with a mission to improve community healthcare access, reduce health disparities, and enhance health outcomes. Governed by a consumer board and funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), EXCELth initially operated in New Orleans but expanded to include Baton Rouge after Hurricane Katrina to meet the primary care needs of displaced individuals. Today, EXCELth runs three health centers and a family dental center in Orleans Parish, in addition to a behavioral health program in East Baton Rouge Parish, effectively acting as a "medical home" for the community. Our services cover a wide range from pediatrics to geriatric care and include behavioral health, dental, pharmacy, and wellness programs. EXCELth is dedicated to delivering quality, affordable primary care while actively engaging patients and their families in the healthcare process.
