DENTAL DIRECTOR POSITION SUMMARY
The Dental Director serves as the leader of the Dental Department, in addition to providing the standard clinical responsibilities of a staff dentist. The Dental Director provides overall supervision of dental services, organizes department-level initiatives and programs, and works collaboratively with facility and corporate leadership.
DENTAL DIRECTOR MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Supervises and monitors clinical performance, documentation, and professionalism of all dental staff, including dentists, dental assistants, and dental hygienists. Including regular meetings with dental staff.

Complete site visits evaluating dental standards are being met.

Assist in maintaining dental staffing rates. Including screening, interviewing, evaluating credentials, and hiring of applicants within the dental department.

Monitors community standards of care for physical therapy and aligns departmental procedures with these Standards.

Complies, verifies, and reports on Dental Department statistics across all sites including Overdue Appointments, Dental services completed, and other reportsProvide dental education or teaching sessions as requested for non-dental staff.

Report any unusual occurrences or incidents to the site and regional leadership.

Performs all functions of a staff dentist including but not limited to the below items:

Perform and interpret radiographic exams as indicated.

Provide dental treatment to include emergency treatment of the teeth and surrounding soft tissues such as oral surgery, restorative dentistry and periodontal therapy within the scope of a general Dentist including extractions.

Correction of significant oral problems, which may adversely affect inmate's health as, deemed necessary.

Make proper referrals for procedures which cannot be performed at facility. Manage and coordinate outside clinic or surgical triaging, referrals and scheduling.

Respond to grievances, ensuring compliance with standards and policy.

Attend required trainings and meetings.

Other duties as assigned.
DENTAL DIRECTOR MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Currently holding an active dental license in the state.

Maintains current DEA number.

Two years of experience as a dentist, preferably in corrections.
