Job Description

Job Summary We are a "People Business First, Dental Business Second" organization, and due to our continued growth and the opening of a new state-of-the-art facility , we are seeking an additional Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our outstanding team. 8:00 AM•2:00 PM Working hours begin 30 minutes prior to the scheduled shift. As an EFDA, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care by assisting doctors during a variety of procedures, performing expanded functions duties, preparing treatment areas, and helping ensure the smooth operation of the practice. Duties Assist the dentist during a wide range of dental procedures including restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and efficiency. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Take and develop high-quality X-ray images, including 3D scans, while maintaining patient comfort and safety standards. Perform chairside assisting using aseptic techniques, including vital signs measurement and medical documentation for each patient visit. Support infection control protocols by maintaining a sterile environment and following OSHA guidelines for aseptic technique. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient patient flow, including greeting patients as a dental receptionist when needed and managing appointment schedules. Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health maintenance to foster positive patient relationships. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding to accurately document procedures and assist with billing processes. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or EFDA in a general dentistry or pediatric dentistry setting is required. Dentrix Ascend experience is a Plus but not mandatory. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, anatomy, and dental assisting procedures is vital for ensuring patient safety. Experience performing X-ray imaging (including 3D scanning), vital signs assessment, and chairside assisting in a busy clinical environment is highly desirable. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient confidentiality must be demonstrated. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining attention to detail under pressure is crucial for success in this role.
