Job Description

JOB PURPOSE
Provide comprehensive and appropriate dental care and treatment to patients. Provide supervision to Dental Assistant(s), Dental Hygienist(s), and dental admissions as assigned. Aid in the success community outreach programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Improve the oral health of patients and the community through the delivery of relevant, quality dental services. Works within their skill level and scope of practice. Actively obtains feedback. Consistently works on acquiring new skills and strives for excellence in all care and services. Ensure all patients enjoy a positive experience and are treated with the care and compassion expected. Ensure all patient records and related documentation are managed and maintained timely, accurately, and consistent with all HIPAA and related regulations and requirements. Ensure all tasks provided and associated with patient care, patient administrative processes, and related duties comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as clinic policies and procedures. Maintain current standards of care in all aspects of patient care and infection control. Maintain productive schedule, participate in outreach programs, and provide quality care. Demonstrate teamwork by completing administrative and clinical tasks as needed for other staff members to help ensure quality patient care. Contribute to success and growth of the department and organization. Develop favorable relationships with all patients. Interact positively with patients to provide information and education. Handle and resolve patient concerns with enthusiasm and empathy. Establish favorable working relationships with all staff members. Always ensure compliance and attention to all corporate policies and procedures in a highly professional manner. Complete continuing education to retain state license to practice dentistry. Participates in designated activities and projects as assigned by the Dental Director or Chief Medical Officer or any other supervisor. Uphold and consistently represent the values and mission of the organization. All other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Provide skilled, direct patient care and dental services as trained, licensed, and assigned. Assess dental condition and needs of patient using approved patient screening procedures. Make appropriate diagnoses and care plans for patients. Perform all relevant procedures associated with the care plan. Administer and prescribe relevant anesthetics and medications. Refer patients for specialty care as appropriate. Educate patient on needs and necessity. Ensure follow up with referrals are documented and complete. Conduct follow up patient care. Manage chronic oral diseases. Educate on disease prevention. Supervise dental team in compliance with policy and procedure, using discretion and discernment. Ensure all documentation and progress notes are accurate and complete. a. Ensure standard of care is met, and policy and procedure are followed. Collaborate with other medical providers in the care of patients. Collaborate with dental providers and assistants in promoting oral health. Asses and initiate emergency measures for sudden adverse developments during treatment of patients. Assist in reviewing clinic productivity, scheduling procedures, and establishing guidelines for care and treatment. Assist with ongoing training and in-service with clinical staff. Build relationships and foster a high level of customer service. Obtain adequate and just resolutions to disputes and concerns. Manage complex patients. Exercise professional judgement in the performance of services provided consistent with the organization's policies and procedures and the standards of the dental profession. Assist in the design and administration of outreach programs in addition to conducting them. a. Helps with transportation and set up. Help patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment. Educate patients in all aspects of dental care and procedures. a. Ensure all possible outcomes and options are discussed and understood. Ensure informed consent (verbal and written) is always obtained. Clarify and rediscuss all outcomes and options prior to execution of care plan and procedures associated with it. Provide service in a manner that is appropriate for the patient's age and abilities; demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to meet the patient's physical, psychosocial, educational and safety needs. Read, write, and maintain patient records and related administrative documentation. Utilize the requisite tools, systems, technology, and equipment in the collection of patient data, records management, and collections. Utilize and monitor effectiveness and efficiency of all equipment and supplies used in the delivery of services. a. Understands HRSA regulations and FHCSO policy and procedure with resources and supplies. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in all areas in delivering dental care including, but not limited to: dental procedures, clinic infection control procedures, instrument use and organization, sterilization of instruments, and materials. Communicate frequently with others in verbal and written formats.
QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed to practice dentistry in the state(s) in which the organization operates. Graduate of formal accredited school of dentistry (D.D.S. or D.M.D) Understand trends and issues related to laws and regulations associated with the delivery of dental and oral health services. Uphold and maintain current standards of care. Experience practicing in a dental public health program preferred. Participate in developing clinical programs consistent with clinic's mission and a FQHC care delivery system. Demonstrated success in working independently as well as other team members. Demonstrated success in prioritization of global patient/practice needs and problem solving. Demonstrated success in computer skills including ability to use computers for scheduling, Microsoft software products, and reasonable keyboards skills. Must be organized and self-motivated. Work well with all team-members and help maintain and implement systems to achieve quality patient care and results. Understand and use dental EHR's and technology in dentistry. Understand and appropriately help patients navigate dental insurance (private and state aid). Understand and accurately use dental CDT and ICD-10 coding. Understand standards and processes established by CMS, HRSA, OSHA, CDC, ADA and regulatory state and federal agencies and entities. Ability to disseminate skills and knowledge to all dental staff members and other departments. Ability to effectively train staff and delegate properly to ensure quality, relevant care is delivered. Working knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of dental and oral diseases. Working knowledge of the principles, standard practices methods, and techniques of dentistry. Working knowledge of preventive dentistry and educational methodologies utilized in prevention. Skill in delivery of a wide range of dental services. Ability to triage emergencies and routine patient care appropriately. Complete relevant continuing education to provide quality care and help ensure operational systems support current industry standards. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff. Why Should You Apply?
