In this role, you will provide direct care to patients receiving hemodialysis treatments while working under the supervision of a registered nurse. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment, and committed to providing safe, respectful, and high-quality patient care. A current and valid CCHT certification is required for this position. Responsibilities Prepare, test, operate, disinfect, and maintain hemodialysis machines and related equipment. Set up dialysis stations and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are ready before treatment. Initiate, monitor, and discontinue hemodialysis treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse. Obtain and document patients' pre-treatment and post-treatment weights and vital signs. Monitor patients throughout treatment and promptly report any changes, complications, or concerns to the supervising nurse. Follow prescribed dialysis treatment orders, facility policies, and established safety protocols. Use proper aseptic techniques and follow all infection-control procedures. Provide vascular access care within the technician's training, certification, and permitted scope of practice. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment information and changes in patient condition. Educate and support patients regarding the dialysis process and basic vascular access precautions within the technician's scope of practice. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dialysis treatment environment. Work collaboratively with registered nurses, physicians, dietitians, social workers, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team. Respond appropriately to dialysis-related complications and emergencies according to facility protocols. Complete additional patient-care and facility duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Current and valid Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification. High school diploma or GED. Knowledge of hemodialysis procedures, renal anatomy, and renal physiology. Familiarity with nephrology-related medical terminology. Knowledge of infection-control practices, aseptic techniques, and patient-safety standards. Ability to follow treatment orders, clinical procedures, and facility protocols. Strong observation, communication, documentation, and patient-service skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during emergencies. Compassionate, dependable, professional, and team-oriented approach to patient care. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working as a dialysis technician or patient care technician in an outpatient dialysis facility. Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification. Experience with hemodialysis machines, vascular access monitoring, and electronic medical records. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, and assist with patient positioning. Ability to lift and move equipment or supplies as required. Ability to perform repetitive clinical and equipment-related tasks safely. Work Environment This position involves direct patient care in an outpatient dialysis setting. Team members must follow all infection-control, privacy, safety, and regulatory requirements.
