Job Description
Job Summary Join our dedicated dietary team as a Dietary Aide/Cook, where you will play a vital role in providing nutritious, delicious meals to our residents while ensuring a safe and welcoming dining environment. This energetic position combines culinary skills with compassionate service, supporting the health and well-being of our residents in assisted living and nursing home settings. You will be responsible for meal preparation, food handling, sanitation, and assisting with dietary needs, all while adhering to strict safety and food safety standards. Duties Prepare and serve meals according to dietary guidelines, menus, and resident preferences, ensuring nutritional standards are met. Assist with food production, including cooking, portioning, and plating meals efficiently and accurately. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen area, including proper cleaning of utensils, equipment, and food preparation surfaces in compliance with health regulations such as JCAHO standards. Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and practicing safe lifting techniques during heavy lifting tasks. Adhere to all workplace safety protocols, including manual handling practices and operating kitchen equipment safely. Collaborate with team members to ensure timely meal service while respecting residents' dietary requirements and special needs. Skills Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or healthcare environments is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of food production, preparation techniques, and sanitation practices within the food industry. Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, mixers, and dishwashers. Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy meal times. Ability to work effectively with geriatric patients while demonstrating compassion and patience. Basic math skills for portion control and inventory management. Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures. Experience with dietary requirements adherence and nutrition principles relevant to older adults.
