This energetic position offers the opportunity to work closely with residents, providing exceptional service and support in a fast-paced culinary setting. Your culinary skills combined with compassion and attention to detail will help create a positive dining experience for our residents, many of whom have specific dietary needs and preferences. This paid position is ideal for individuals passionate about food service, geriatric care, and maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation. Duties Prepare and serve meals that meet residents' dietary requirements, adhering to prescribed menus and nutritional guidelines Assist with food production, including chopping, portioning, and assembling ingredients for various dishes Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, following all workplace safety protocols and sanitation standards Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, dining spaces, and food handling equipment through regular cleaning and sanitation practices Support dietary department operations by managing food handling tasks, proper storage, and manual handling techniques for heavy lifting and safe lifting practices Work collaboratively with nursing staff to accommodate special diets and assist with feeding residents when needed Ensure compliance with health regulations such as JCAHO standards, food safety protocols, and personal protective equipment (PPE) use Requirements Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred Knowledge of food preparation techniques, meal service, and nutrition principles tailored to geriatric patients Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently in a busy environment Ability to work safely with kitchen equipment and handle food safely following proper food handling procedures Familiarity with adhering to dietary requirements and working within dietary department guidelines Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach towards working with elderly or geriatric patients Basic math skills for portion control and inventory management Certifications such as CPR or Food Safety training are advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to obtain required certifications is expected Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely and stand for extended periods during meal preparation and service Join us in making a meaningful difference through nourishing meals that bring comfort and joy!
