Duties Assist with meal preparation, plating, and serving according to dietary guidelines and resident preferences Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas following food safety protocols and JCAHO standards Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, mixers, and dishwashers, adhering to safe lifting practices and manual handling procedures Support the dietary department by managing food handling tasks, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and inventory control Work closely with nursing staff to accommodate specific dietary requirements for residents with special needs or medical conditions Follow all workplace safety policies including PPE use, manual handling techniques, and infection control measures Assist with general cleaning duties to uphold sanitation standards in food preparation and service areas Skills Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or food industry settings is highly preferred Strong knowledge of food production, food safety, sanitation practices, and kitchen operations Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Experience working with geriatric patients or in dietary departments is advantageous Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, compassionate demeanor Basic math skills for portioning and inventory management Familiarity with adhering to dietary requirements and nutrition guidelines for diverse populations Knowledge of safe lifting practices for heavy lifting tasks involving kitchen equipment or supplies CPR certification preferred; ongoing training provided as needed This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents by providing nutritious meals with care and professionalism.
