Responsibilities Assist with food preparation and meal service, adhering strictly to dietary requirements and safety standards. Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, mixers, and serving utensils, following proper procedures. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, dining spaces, and food handling equipment in compliance with health regulations such as JCAHO standards. Support the dietary department by handling food safely, practicing proper manual handling techniques, and managing heavy lifting with safe lifting practices. Work collaboratively with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to accommodate special diets for residents or patients with specific nutritional needs. Ensure timely delivery of meals while maintaining quality, presentation, and temperature standards. Follow workplace safety protocols including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to food safety guidelines. Skills Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of food production, preparation, serving techniques, and sanitation practices. Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Excellent time management skills to handle meal schedules effectively while managing multiple tasks. Ability to work with geriatric patients or individuals with special dietary requirements compassionately and professionally. Basic math skills for portion control and inventory management. Knowledge of food handling safety standards and sanitation procedures aligned with JCAHO regulations. Experience in dietary aide roles or food service positions demonstrating customer service excellence. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely and stand for extended periods during meal preparation and service. CPR certification is a plus; willingness to obtain if not already certified.
