In this vital role, you will prepare nutritious, appealing meals while ensuring strict adherence to dietary requirements and food safety standards. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel cared for and valued. Duties Prepare and serve meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines, ensuring all food safety and sanitation standards are met. Assist with food production, including chopping, portioning, and plating meals efficiently while maintaining high quality. Follow proper manual handling and safe lifting practices when moving heavy items or equipment to prevent injury. Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, mixers, dishwashers, and refrigeration units safely and effectively. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including sanitizing surfaces, washing dishes, and disposing of waste in accordance with sanitation protocols. Support dietary department operations by bussing tables, cleaning dining areas, and assisting with meal delivery or setup as needed. Adhere to all workplace safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe environment for staff and residents alike. Qualifications Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred. Knowledge of food production, food handling, sanitation practices, and food safety regulations such as JCAHO standards. Familiarity with dietary requirements for geriatric or special needs populations; experience working with geriatric patients is a plus. Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently during busy meal periods. Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and perform heavy lifting while following safe lifting practices. Basic math skills for portion control and inventory management. Excellent customer service skills with a caring attitude toward residents' needs.
