Dietary Manager Job Summary:
The Food Services Ambassador is responsible for delivering meals to patients while providing excellent customer service. This role ensures patients receive the correct meals according to dietary requirements and helps enhance the overall patient experience during their stay.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver meals and snacks to patients in a timely and courteous manner Verify patient identity and ensure meals match prescribed dietary restrictions Assist patients with menu selections in accordance with physician-ordered diets Communicate patient needs, concerns, or food preferences to dietary staff Set up meal trays and assist patients with opening containers or basic needs Collect trays after meals and maintain cleanliness of patient areas Maintain proper food safety and sanitation standards (following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or hospital policy) Provide friendly interaction to improve patient satisfaction and comfort Document meal delivery and patient intake as required
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED preferred Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or healthcare is a plus Basic understanding of dietary restrictions (e.g., low sodium, diabetic diets) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment
Skills & Abilities:
Customer service and patient care focus Attention to detail (especially with dietary accuracy) Teamwork and collaboration Time management and organization Empathy and professionalism
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 25-30 pounds Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift
Work Environment:
Hospital environment with frequent patient interaction Standing and walking for extended periods May involve lifting trays or food carts
Work Schedule:
May include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Compliance & Safety:
Compliance with hospital policies, OSHA regulations, and infection control procedures • Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Adherence to HIPAA confidentiality standards when in patient care areas
