Job Description

This is a non-merit, temporary position. Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services
  • Human Resources Enterprise.
This position starts at $13.02 per hour. If you are interested in entering the health care field, this is a great position to start in. The Iowa Veterans Home is looking for temporary Resident Aides to assist on the unit. Hours are typically 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. working 30 hours in a pay period and every other weekend. As a Resident Aide, you will help residents by changing sheets, making bed, refill water pictures, refill treatment bucket, put away clean laundry.
Duties also include:
  • Assisting with passing meal trays and assisting during meal time.
  • Provides support and physical assistance to residents by participating/initiating additional activities such as playing cards, table games, reading, crafts, writing letters for residents and taking residents for walks or outside for fresh air by wheelchair.
  • Escorts or participates with resident activities, writing letters for residents, taking residents for walks along with other assigned duties.
  • All applicants are subject to a Criminal Background Check Dependent Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Check.
