Job Description
Overview Join our dedicated team as a Head Start Nutrition Aide, where you will play a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of young children by assisting with nutritious meal service and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment. This energetic position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to early childhood development through food service, ensuring that every child receives wholesome meals in a welcoming setting. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help foster positive dining experiences and promote healthy habits from an early age. Responsibilities Serve nutritious meals and snacks to children in accordance with dietary guidelines. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen by following food safety sanitizing procedures and cleaning schedules. Handle manual tasks such as weight handling in the workplace, food handling, and operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Support food safety management practices, including proper storage, temperature control, and sanitation protocols. Provide friendly, in-person customer service to children, parents, and staff, creating a positive environment. Follow all health regulations related to food safety, including proper food handling and serving techniques, while adhering to dietary restrictions and special needs requirements. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Basic knowledge of food handling, storage, and safety. Relate well with children, families, and staff. Possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by the program insurance carrier as well as transport self to and from various Head Start/Early Head Start and agency locations. Successfully complete a food safety training course. Maintain updated CPR and First Aid Certification as required.
