Job Description

MCH is accepting applications for a Dietary Food Prep Aide that supports the food service department in the preparation and delivery of meals to patients, ensuring that dietary needs and preferences are met. This role involves assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness in food service areas, and providing excellent customer service to patients and staff. This position will work rotating hours.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the preparation of food items according to established menus and dietary guidelines. Serve meals to staff, ensuring that dietary restrictions and preferences are adhered to. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas, including washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces. Monitor food inventory and report shortages to the supervisor. Participate in training and follow all safety and hygiene regulations.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
Basic knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements is helpful. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as part of a team and handle multiple tasks. Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
Dietary aides typically work in a hospital kitchen or dining area, interacting with kitchen staff, and healthcare personnel. Hours may vary, including weekends and holidays. Promote the mission of the hospital and exemplify it through food hospitality. Greet all staff, families and hospital visitors with a positive, cheerful attitude. Ensure food preparation for optimal nutrition (including attention to various age groups of patients) and economic handling of food, as well as efficient usage of time. Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
Working irregular hours including weekend and special events. Physically demanding, high-stress environment Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions Pushing and pulling heavy objects Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients Position requires light to moderate work with 50 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry. Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma Previous knowledge of in food service or healthcare settings is a plus. Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft office.
